Finally some knitting... and other stuff

Sorry for all you dial-up folks out there. This one's a bit photo heavy.

Several years ago, these sedums came along for the ride when someone gave me a bunch of hostas they were thinning from a family plot in a local cemetary. This year, for the first time, they are in a happy home. Lots of sunshine and no stress. What I love about these sedums is how pink they are, compared to others that look like the same variety. The bumble bees love them, too.

Here's our female cat, Hailey, sitting on the garden path by some ornamental grass. Why do cats start walking right at the camera the minute I crouch down for a picture?

A couple shots from recent butterfly stalking in the garden. Yeah, I know, the butterfly shots are all starting to look the same. I think the thrill is in the conquest for me.

Finally, some knitting progress pics

I would like the skinny scarf to be about 6 feet long. It's about 5 feet right now. Anyone with the perfect name for this, let me know. By the way, the Yarn Botanika yarn has a magical quality of reproducing on the ball while you knit! It's true! This ball still feels about as heavy as when I started! Amazing!*

If I hadn't stressed my left wrist on the sweater for the Little Emperor, I would have been done by now.

The working name for the boy-sized version of the Adirondack Pullover is Foothills. It still needs sleeves, a collar, a good jostle in warm water to make it submit to my will. I think it'll get shelved a month or more while I work on some stuff that doesn't stress my hands. I'm getting a feeling that my little guy is on a big growth spurt, too. I just dragged another box of Owen's old clothes out of the closet, and it's startling to see what almost fits!

See how far a hank can go?? !! :)

I'd say Colored Corn or Inka Corn. In that first picture the stitches remind me of the corn seeds on a cob of corn.

*something funky is going on with the pics and text associated with the yarn botanika you're knitting up. They're layering over each other. Could be my computer though.*

Anyway, those Sedums are gorgeous. I love your nature pics! Always have. The sweater is a pretty color too. and what I can see of the scarf you're working on is also gorgeous. And you look like you're having a good time with it!

No Turtle, it's not your computer, its happening on mine too. Here I thought Elizabeth was being cloak and dagger about a design in progress, but maybe not.

Love the pics! Bumblebees!

Thanks all!

And, thanks for the tip-off about wonky layout! I find that when I use the "align=" feature in my posts, it looks great in Safari on a Mac, but goes all screwy in Explorer on Windows.

Let me know if this is better!

It's better now! Hmm...what to call the skinny self reproducing yarn scarf???

Love the sedum and b-fly pix!

I know, I know, you want suggestions for the scarf, but all I can think about is sweater names. What about naming it after one of the smaller mountain chains in NYS? Like the Shawangunks or Catskills?

Elizabeth said...

Funny when you think about which mountains get used for naming outdoorsy stuff. No one ever named polar-fleece/winter coat system "Poconos". ;-)

Adirondack, yes,
Catskills, maybe
Poconos? never.

Gorgeous photos - I really miss the midwest. The expressions on your face are priceless. I have no creative thoughts currently, so I'm worthless in regards to the scarf...

Wow, Elizabeth, what beautifully clear photos! Since we're on a mountainous terrain-kinda groove, I'll suggest 'Footpath' as a name for the scarf. The long vertical lines really make my eyes travel ahead, and the colours remind me of walking in the woods in fall.

Lovely bee shot!

Yep, my cats walk up to me too when I kneel down to take pics in the garden...I had to shoo Dory away from the alpaca about 5 times today!

Scarf should be called: Autumn Walk.

Hope the wrist isn't too bad....make sure you rest it!

everything I can think of right now for a ribbed scarf is slightly obscene...so I can't contribute. Your cat pic is almost scary in intensity.
OMG, I just realized you put up a flickr stash flash. must go look. yarn porn...see, I'm on an obscene track right now...

Love the pictures!! Just amazing close ups!! The neverending scarf huh? ;) Looks really nice, I like the Autumn Walk name also!

Hailey looks like the reincarnation of my cat, Artemis. Gorgeous kitty. Of course, all your photos are wonderful.

Hmmmmm...hard to know what to call the scarf. Need an "up close and personal" of the stitch pattern, plus it would be good to feel it. Is it soft?
