Why I Shouldn't Go to the Fabric Store Unsupervised...

What I went for:

What I bought:

I went in for one navy separating zipper. And I came out with all that other stuff. Plus, 1 yard of super-heavy-duty double-sided-fusible interfacing. Anyone want to make a guess or two what I'm planning to sew?

For the record, the selection of separating zippers at my local Hancock Fabrics was very good. Much better than the selection I found at the local JoAnn's Superstore when I went looking for one for the Morgan Cardigan. Next time I'll remember to try Hancock first.

On the way into the fabric store I saw a bumper sticker:
I know Hell exists, I work in retail.

Having done my time in retail, I had a chuckle.

At the checkout counter, I tell the man ringing up my stuff that I only came in for the zipper. He was pleased and made a comment about all the good stuff I found for my stash. If he only knew about me and my stash, maybe he wouldn't see that as a good thing.

RE: Hancock Fabrics vs. Joann's. J is much larger and had more than my closest Hancock, but I always found better buttons, thread, closures, etc. at Hancock. I'm so sad because it closed down. Milwaukee is Crummy-Town for LYSs and fabric stores. Sad. We do have one nice LYS and one with lots of yarn.

Hmmmm.... Two coordinating zippers and something which sounds like "wonder under"..... Could you be making a new knitting bag, or some other tote?

I'll have to hire you as my professional button shopper so at least you can say most of what you buy isn't for you ;-)

I dig that circle optic-y fabric.

Those zippers match the materials. Throw in the interfacing and you have a bag?

Here's another clue.

I have enough fabric here for many such items. I will need to add some elastic. I'll probably make a coordinating bag, too, but a tote-bag is not the first project in line from these materials.

I love Hancock's but never think of it. I'll have to take a cruise over there and see what I can see! Pretty fabric colors! I sense a new knitting tote coming!

Skirts? Pillow covers which can have the pillow core removed for cleaning? I love the colors.

Hehe! Nothing wrong with a little bit of new fabric... And sewing seems so instant sometimes in comparison with knitting.

I used to have a bumper sticker on my old Jeep similar to the one you saw:

"I'd tell you to go to hell, but I work there and I don't want to see you every day."
