Baby Cardigan Progress

Here's the progress picture of the new baby cardigan. I've included a steek and I plan to install a zipper. Still debating a hood or not. The sweater will probably fit him next fall/winter, when he'll be sitting up, crawling, and then walking, so a hood might get some use. Of course, he might just take it off, too.

Here's the detail:

Feel free to weigh in on the hood debate.

I am currently making my first ever hooded sweater. It is for a five year old. I just think it will be cute, even if not very functional -- a nice change from the necklines I typically gravitate to....although, it is as much knitting as making another sleeve would be..... Perhaps you could invent a way to steak it so that you wouldn't have to work it back and forth?

Definitely a good call with the diamonds. It's quite striking. I say yea to a hood. Extra warmth at the back of the neck - even if the hood doesn't get worn, it keeps drafts away. Plus they're fun to play with, and they look cute on kids.

I live the diamonds. Looks like a little varsity sweater! If you have enough yarn a hood is always appreciated when it starts to get cold!

Looks good! I can't comment one way or the other about hoods, other than to say I don't like them for myself.

Maybe I should get brave and just start throwing colors together in sweaters for the babies friends are having this fall....my excuse is that I'm waiting to find out the sexes. Since the colors I have are mostly gender-neutral (lilac, green, orange), the sex shouldn't matter, but it's my current excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Hm, if I remember rightly a hood never stayed on Chunky's head before the age of two for more than 3.42 seconds. But my study sample size is kind of small!

It's looking good!
