More of the same
The Blue Faced Leicester from Sandy's Palette continues. I'm really really really loving the results I'm getting. Two 70 gram skeins so far, the first has about 205 yards; the second, about 220. This makes a nice sport weight kind of yarn. I'm a bit over half way through the batch.
More of the same, again
The basic garter stitch scarf from early handspun. It's about 45 inches long at this point. I think I'll be able to make a smallish hat out of the same yarn when the scarf is a good length. Either that, or keep on with the scarf until ridiculous proportions, a là Tom Baker/Dr. Who. Well, not quite. Getting a 20 ft scarf out of 7 ounces of fingering weight yarn would be a feat worthy of the TARDIS, which I don't possess.
A Problem
I'm cruising along last night, thinking I'm making such great progress. And I count stitches on one half of the front, to see how many more neckline decreases until the shoulder.
Hmm, seems a bit off.
Count the other side.
Uh Oh! I have a couple extra repeats of the design on one side than the other. Which means I've placed one of the steeks for the armholes in the wrong place.
Having pondered the Fix-It options, I know I have to frog.
I think I'll just let that project be for a few days. The weather is nice. The weeds are over-taking all the flowerbeds. The lawn is getting long. More baby buckthorns are springing up under shrubs. (I do like the thrill of pulling the small ones. It's nice knowing that's one less pain-in-the-butt weed tree in the world.)
And my family needs me to go to the supermarket today.
Here are two recent pictures of my cats enjoying the spring!

Okay, so maybe I'll start spinning in 2018 (instead of 2020). You crack me up (and aren't the best influence, I must say :-) I can only imagine the conversation if I told my dh I was going to start spinning right now. I'm sure the phrase, "Are you crazy," might be part of the discussion...
Anyway, so sorry about the armhole steek thing -- what a bummer, though perhaps this sweater could button up the side front instead of the center front? Hey -- at least you discovered it before you put a scissors to it! Small consolation, probably...
I am wicked jealous of your spinning. And of your ability to photograph your spinning, for that matter. And of your ability to recognize that you have misplaced a steek, since I cannot get through three rows of 38 stitches of very simple lace without ending up with 37 or 39 stitches. Sigh.... Luckily, it's fuzzy mohair and I'm not a perfectionist.
Oh man, that STINKS about the Kauni. If you frog, you're my hero. I would have finished it and wore it crooked and misshapen! I'm such a lazy knitter!
Ooooh Nooooo Mr Bill! That really sucks. But, yeah, at least you caught it before you cut it.
Much better to get out in the yard. Cats know the secret of life.
The yarn is gorgeous. I may be starting to develop "spinners envy"
Gosh, I'd have to let that naughty sweater rest for awhile also, say 28 years or so. Your green things are bigger than mine. Except for my buckthorn trees. Where do they come from? Can I borrow your backhoe or some other big yellow digging constructiony thing?
And another thing . . . I really dig the color of the old handspun. The scarf is nearly tuck in the coat length now. You can stop and make a big hat. The gold yarn can just be yarn. Just there to be beautiful. Isn't that enough?
That handspun is gorgeous!
Sorry about the steek! But your handspun is just stunning! :)
The stuff is spinning up wicked gawjus! I can't believe I put it down at Sandy's. What was I thinking?!?!?!
Gorgeous yarn and gorgeous cats!
Pity about the Kauni cardigan-frogging, but it's looking amazing.
I have a couple of little goats that would love to help with those weeds :-)
The hand-spun is fabulous!
oh groan, life among the lilypads.
Your spinning is really impressive - and if I can help it, I'm going to stay impressed from afar. Don't need one more thing in my life.
But I love seeing yours.
;)
Breathtaking!
Your handspun is so beautiful! I really love the colour.
Too bad about the sweater but like everyone else said at least you saw it now and not when you cut it. It will be gorgeous when it is done.
