Alpaca Fest

I just got back from The Great Midwest Alpaca Festival. I decided not to go to the Blackberry Ridge open house. The Alpaca Festival was dangerous enough. I bought some wonderful yarn: 3 8 ounce/665 yard hanks and one 1041 yard hank which is about 12 ounces. I was able to talk briefly to Susan about wheels and try out one of the ones she brought. Her attention was pulled in about 8 directions at once, but she still gave me a little instruction while she sold yarn and talked about spinning. I didn't intend to become part of the entertainment, but there I was, treadling away with a small crowd watching. Owen tried, too, and wanted me to come home with a wheel. I told him I need to learn a little more to make an informed decision. Susan said that if I come back tomorrow morning when it's less crowded I can have a little more of her attention. Two visits to the Alpaca Fest, two days in a row: sounds dangerous to me.

I didn't take the camera today, but tomorrow I will. I think they are the cutest animals in the world.

I love my Majacraft Rose--it's a truly all-purpose wheel that just spins like a dream. Pretty portable, too.

I'm just sayin' . . . ;-)

Wow! I have never seen a skein that huge before...(ahem, I'd hate to wind it though LOL!)
Great looking yarns there! So you are a spinning entertainer now huh ;)

Oh yes, those little animals ARE cute. Nice haul!

Just got my fi to themrst order of Blackberry Ridge yarn in the mail yesterday - I'm so jealous that you live so close! Such yummy yarn.

Have fun at the fest today.

The alpaca were cute, but I didn't get to browse for yarn there. I did hit Coyote Yarns though - there's some good stuff left. I need some of your knitting wisdom. I think I'm just short of enough yarn for a top down raglan, but I want a second opinion.

Two days in a row to an alpaca fest, where they are selling wheels? Sounds very dangerous indeed! What kind of wheel did you try yesterday? They say you should try out as many wheels as possible before buying, but I bought my Joy without even trying it out first. Let alone any others. I really like my little wheel though, it's wonderfully portable, and does pretty much everything I ask of it. Though after 5 years with it, I'm thinking that it would be nice to expand my repertoire, and get another wheel.

Anyway - hope you're having fun - I wonder if anyone's taking bets whether or not you're going to come home with a wheel of you own?

Oooh, you've had a great weekend! I stopped for coffee at Lakeside on Sat. Yarn threw me to the floor and forced me to take it home. Film at 11:00... or pictures midweek. And if I every ask you where Blackberry Ridge lives, you can't tell me....
