Random stuff...

Some spinning:

I made the skein in the pic a couple months ago. I've been on spinning vacation for a while but am now back to it, making the rest of this mossy merino/yak, 2 ply fingering weight.

Both these pictures get bigger if you click 'em. This is a kind of hard color to capture with any accuracy.

We're slogging along through spring break, even though it just started! We're in full-blown mud season, which is a necessary evil along the way to bona-fide spring. But it makes our outdoor options a bit more limited at a time when I think we need outdoor time more than ever.

On a more random note, I've been musing about the term "stash buster" as applied to various kinds of knitting projects. Not too long ago I saw a hat on a very popular blog described as a "stash buster." This strikes me as a bit comical. After all, how much stash can a person bust with one little hat? I've been thinking about just what it is that folks mean by that term. One meaning could be a small project you can probably make from odds and ends you have lying around. I wouldn't call that stash busting, though. More like a stash friendly project. In my mind, stash busting would involve using a bunch of different odds and ends in a big project. An afghan made from scraps and partial balls would be a great example.

I'm kind of at loose ends right now in my knitting. I hate getting to the end of one big project without having the next big one planned. Until I settle on the next big one, I'm too unfocused. All the potential projects start duking it out in my brain. Hours and days go by with precious little to show for it. And having my offspring vying for my attention all day every day makes it even worse. I have the itch to create, but I'm stymied in my efforts to get at it.

Happy Spring Break! The yarn is just beautful. I has a lot more 'life' than the fleece looked like...really tweedy. I've been on a spinning kick too. I'm not getting anything else done in the meantime,I'm so obsessed! Oy!

Oh, I know that itch. Just hang in there, it probably means you're at some sort of plateau in your knitting and are girding your loins internally, so to speak, to burst forth at a new level of creativity.

Or you've got spring fever. Either way, go make sure your stash is big enough to bust.

You're right about the colors. I love the subtle muted moments - just like the spinning you've done - that grow more and more interesting the more you examine and discover the color variety.

Meanwhile, happy mud. I just took a walk through a maddening snow squall. It's supposed to be rain. I've been duped.

Oh, I so know that in between projects feeling.

I'm a huge fan of tweedy greys, so love the yarn.

That IS beautiful yarn; you DO make spinning look so appealing {NO! I can't!!} Now. Yet. :-) It's Mud Season is all, that's what creates the dicey loose-ends rattles, I've got it too. Now we're in for Fits'n'Starts weather, while the Frost Giants throw tantrums, but it's all careening toward Spring. This is a good thing.

Your yarn is so lovely. The hue brings to mind warmer days and greener pastures. Your funk will pass when the right muse appears. Happy Spring break. :)

I thought your last paragraph said a lot about me ;-) The yarn is gorgeous, one my favorite colors! A stash busting does sound like it should result in a large knit ~snort~

Maybe stash busting means to get a knitting machine and do it all up quickly. Then it quits haunting you. The yarn is beautiful. Hand spuns don't count in stash, right?

I love that yarn you've made, even more so after hearing that it has yak. My feet spontaneously began whispering about soffft, warm socksssssssssss. Mud is much better in summer when you can play in it.

Pretty. And even. We've hit full blown allergy season here. I'd trade it in a second for mud.

I am right there with you on stumped for knitting. I want to but nothing is coming to mind, having wrapped up several big projects.
