Garden Goodness!

The strawberries are ripening! I think in a few days, we'll have a whole bunch at once. This was the first one:

I ate it two nights ago. It was so good!

For some reason, we have this one solitary great big dark purple iris:

It's not a Siberian Iris: it's a way more substantial flower.

I was strolling around my neighborhood the other evening and I was quite impressed with all the big stands of irises in bloom. There must have been some great bargains on iris corms last fall, because I don't remember seeing so many around in previous springs. They sure do look nice, though. I think I might need to buy a dozen for Mr. SABLE this fall and see what he does with them...

It's some sort of bearded iris. The strawberry picture is charming.

Very pretty iris. The matriarchal grandmother of your garden perhaps? I just read Union Street though where the matriarch was named Iris...

And yum to strawberries! Way to go getting it before the birds did!

Purple! I love purple flowers, particularly that dark, deep purple. I don't know how you do it... green thumb? Superpower? It's amazing.

Missed you at Knit In Public today at the Ear. All of us knitters got so excited when the alpacas in the Hometown Parade came by, we all started waving, clapping and screaming and freaked them out. Not the alpacas. They were down with it. But the folks handling them looked ready to bolt. The didn't notice we were sitting in front of a YARN store I guess!
