This is the Jayne Hat I made for Owen a few weeks ago. I followed
this pattern, mostly, though I was sorely tempted to give it a good editing. Not that there are any errors; it's just that it could be expressed quite completely in about one-fourth the space. Owen truly loves this hat.
Edited to add:
Those of you who were at Last Saturday Knitting and are dreading the photo that might appear: rest easy. None of them are flattering enough to most of us to print. I'll try again another day.

Excellent! Said in a Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure kind of a voice. Now, have you heard about a hat from Septimus Heap? Apparently somebody in that book has a red hat with a pocket. I know, because one of my Monday night knitters made her daughter one.
P.S. I just found out there are tons of Jayne hat patterns on the 'Net. I like this one because I learned a bit about the show by reading it. http://shaggysheepyarn.net/jayne.aspx
What a good friend you are! Thanks for the laugh with your reassurances :)
p.s. I'm jonesing for some aran weight to knit The Kate but will have to wait for some stash to be knit. I've got that "do not spend on even more yarn until you've knit some up" thing going on. Do you think it will do well knit in one piece to the shoulders?
Very nice. Owen looks ready for space travel.
Aw, he's so cuuuuuute!
And better his picture than ours by far.
That is a great hat! And, plenty of winter still around to get lots of use out of it! Ear flaps are THE BEST!
And it looks great on him!
How lucky you are that he'll wear a hat! My son refused to wear hats until he went to college this fall and had to walk across campus in the cold.
Re: Last Saturday Knitting Pix...
WHEW.
Cute hat, cute kid!
