Still More Weaving

If I keep this up, I might start losing the knitting fan base, eh?

This is a simple houndstooth check scarf for Mr. SABLE

And a closer view:

I used black Jaggerspun Maine Line, a 2/8 fingering weight wool yarn, and Knit Picks Palette in a medium grey. I used a 10 dent heddle on my rigid heddle loom, which seemed a bit too open in the weaving. I fulled the scarf slightly in the washing machine, which gave it a nice body.

Finished size: about 7" wide by about 7' long. This was a fun and super easy weaving project. It took less than 24 hours from warping the loom to finished.

Nah, we'll still read. Because look at my blog...I only write about saving money (and I haven't even blogged in a month!). And some of our other friends hardly blog at all ;)

The only thing that worries me is that you're going to tempt me to get a loom!

Love the scarf!

Very nice!!! Houndstooth still looks like mini-Texasses to me though! Ha ha!

As you know knitters tend to be multi-fiber crafters so if anything you're just going to inspire us to all grab our looms out and get weaving.

love, love, love the houndstooth!

I need to try that! I'm still on your very basic stripe thing!

Look what you can do! But my, how you talk dirty now that you're weaving: "used a 10 dent heddle on my rigid heddle loom"

Remember when you used to blog every other day or so? I'm not saying you should do that again, I'm just saying that I remember. I don't blog as much either. What has become of us? What have we become? harcl

Gorgeous! It's probably just what my man is thinking of for a scarf for himself. You did that with one heddle or two?

You should know that the fact that both you and KnitandTonic have the Knitter's Loom heavily influenced my purchase!

Hey Dawn, I don't actually have The Knitters Loom, but the plain old Ashford Rigid Heddle Loom. One difference is that the Knitters Loom comes finished.

This scarf was made with just one heddle. Just a balanced weave. Warp alternating 2 ends dark, 2 ends light. Weft: 2 picks dark, 2 picks light. It couldn't be easier.

Thanks Elizabeth! Okay, I misread the Knitter's loom part, but at least you've got a rigid heddle. The finished part was a large part of the decision to go for the AKL. But I'm still blaming you, or claiming you as my inspiration!

Just showed the scarf to Captain America and he wanted to know how you switch colors. Am I right that you would just carry up one side, twisting like in knitting? He'll be making that next - he's got black and white yarn waiting.

This opens up yet another whole world in fiber - amazing!
