Fair Isle progress

In between lots of long spinning sessions, I've made a bit of progress on the Fair Isle cardigan.

This one clicks for a slightly bigger view.

And here's a detail shot:

At this point, the knitting is about 12 inches long. After the next round of the greys and greens, I'll begin armhole shaping. I'm planning to make sleeve caps with steeks, either set-in or modified drop, or kind of a hybrid of the two. So far, I've always worked Fair Isle sleeves by picking up around the armhole and knitting down to the wrist. And they've always been drop shoulders. So this will be a bit of a departure for me.

It's gorgeous! I made a few Fair Isle sweaters before I knew it was so difficult. Ingornance is bliss, I guess. I applaud you!

Wow! You're amazing with color! Any special thing that makes you decide which colors to use in a project like this?

I'm with everyone in thinking it's gorgeous. I'm with Carol in wanting to know more about how you make color choices (I know it's some trial and error, but you seem to have an awfully good sense of where to even start).

Hope Owen's pumpkin performs well for him. Abbie loved having her very own jack o lantern plant when she was a kid.

That is so beautiful and looks so intricate. I admire your patience to be able to do something like that. I've managed only one very small intarsia project so far and the multiple threads made me a little bonkers over only 20 rows or so. I will someday attempt fair isle, but I think I'll give my basic skills a little more time to develop first.

That's sort of heart-stoppingly lovely. I'm going to really enjoy watching this come together.
